2021 Review- My Diverse Reads
Each year I like to challenge myself to diversify my list of books I’ve read. Last year I broke up my numbers into books read by Black authors, Asian/Indian, white female, and male (of all ethnicities). In 2020 my numbers looked like this:
Seems to be pretty consistent with last year which I’m a little disappointed with myself about. I think I did well in the middle of the year but struggled towards the end. A lot of diverse books I was excited about came out in the summer and then I fell back into my habit of reading books by white females. I tried to be more conscious of adding in more diverse books towards the end of the year, but I wish I had gotten more. I guess I will continue to make this a goal for next year! Maybe I need to make a goal to read a book by an author of color at least once a month or something. I will definitely be looking to see if there are lists of diverse reads coming out in 2022 that I can add to my TBR and look forward to.
